naomi (20K)Naomi Whiteley is thrilled to be a part of Birth, her debut performance in Gainesville. This production is much more than a play...it is a true movement, and one that she is extremely proud to be a part of. Naomi, an accomplished singer/dancer/actress, but has spent the last few years entirely dedicated to her greatest passion, motherhood. She recently established "Noni's Musikgarten", where she happily teaches music/movement classes for mommies and their babies and toddlers—quite possibly the most wonderful profession!

She is excited about the opportunity to share her birth experience through the eyes of Amanda, a woman that is not all that unlike Naomi herself. Three years ago, Naomi had planned on a beautiful, natural birth at the Birth Center with her two midwives, whom she adored. After an extremely long and frustrating labor of 20 hours complete with highs, lows and ultimately, slows; she was transferred to the hospital where the interventions began. Starting with 4 hours on Pitocin and ending when she received local anesthesia for a Cesarean section. She remained steadfast in her conviction against drugs, entirely avoiding an epidural, because she firmly believes in the power of her body to endure and rise above pain. Now joyously pregnant again, and looking forward to a successful VBAC at home in the spring, Naomi is so thankful for the inspiration of Birth in her life.
